Al-Lateef
Meaning – The Subtle One
AllahuAkbar!
Allah is Al Lateef –
The Subtle One,
The One Who even takes care of minuscule things.
You may have witnessed such hard days in your life when you feel down and sad by the Islamophobic atmosphere all around, you may feel like on the verge of being shattered and suddenly, somehow you come across an article or may be a friend randomly messages you the hadees that “there will come a time when adhering to the deen will be like carrying burning hot coals in your hand.”
And instantly you feel the goosebumps and realised how much you needed this reminder to remind yourself that holding to Islam is not going to be an easy task, it will be like holding hot coals in hands, an extremely difficult task.
On such hard times when you are heavily tested to such an extent that you are on the verge of giving up and you are reminded by your friend or through a sermon or by any other means that “When Allah desires good for someone, He tries them with hardships.“
SubhanAllah! You think your friend or that sermon has relieved you but in fact it is always Allah – Al Lateef Who send these timely reminders to us through different sources and means to relieve us.
Next time, when you are relieved and you feel you needed these words, or write ups to feel relaxed and motivated, be grateful to Al Lateef as He has sent these to you through different means.
“Does He who created not know, while He is Al-Lateef (The Subtle), Al-Khabeer (The Acquainted)?”
(Holy Qur’an 67:14)
Allah Al Lateef knows our struggling side the best, Allah Al Lateef is The Most Subtle and Caring and helps us in ways we cannot even comprehend.
SubhanAllah! Let’s read these beautiful words of Prophet Yusuf (Prophet Joseph, peace be upon him) mentioned in the Holy Quran.
“And He was indeed good to me, when He took me out of prison and brought you out of the desert after shaitan had sown enmity between me and my brothers. Certainly my Lord is Lateef to who He wills. Truly, He Alone is the Most Knowing, Most Wise.”
(Holy Quran 12:100)
Subhan Allah! We know Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) was thrown into the well by his brothers out of envy, later he was even sold as a slave for few dirhams (money), he spent years after years in prison for the crimes he did not commit, all such heavy struggles will appear to us as tragic and bad for the Prophet of Allah, the chosen one, right?
SubhanAllah! But see the words of Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) in the above verse, he is appreciating Allah as Al Lateef – The Subtle One, The Caring, Who took him out from the evil plots plotted against him even by his own brethren and has raised Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) to a high rank and status.
Allah Al Lateef was always with Prophet Yusuf and Allah Al Lateef alone knows best the wisdom behind such heavy struggles which he has endured.
We cannot comprehend the wisdom behind difficult times, sometimes we consider it bad but we should appreciate all the ease provided to us by Al Lateef in the hardships He has given to us, as He never leaves us even when He is testing us hard and moulding us to confront the heavy challenges with leadership qualities by undergoing difficult circumstances and unprecedented events.
Remember Allah with this beautiful attribute Al Lateef often and always remember He is The Most Subtle and The Most Caring One, all the love, care and ease you are getting through different means is all by His mercy.
SubhanAllahi Wabihamdihi.
