Al Azeez

Beautiful names of our Rabb.

Al – Azeez
The One who is The Most Powerful and The Most Cherished.
The One whose strength, glory and power are overwhelming and cannot be overcome or resisted.

Verily, He is Al-Azeez and true izza belongs to Him alone.

And for the servants, the true dignity comes in servitude to Him.

As humans, we all need and we all strive for izza and honour and dignity, we need to understand that we should seek it from Him alone, from Him, Al Azeez Who is the source of all dignity, honour and power.

Umar bin al-Khattab (r.a) said, “We were indeed a very lowly people. Allah raised us to honor and greatness through Islam. If we forget who we are and wish other than Islam, which elevated us, The One who raised us surely will debase us.”

Subhanallah!

“If you do not aid the Prophet – Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, “Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.” And Allah sent down his tranquility upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah – that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might (Al-‘Azeez) and Wise (Al-Hakeem).”
(Qur’an, 9:40)

We know the incident of cave thawr when Abu Bakr (r.a) became anxious, fearing for the life of Prophet Muhammed (pbuh).
The enemies were just outside the cave and the feet can be seen from inside the cave, the only thing they had to do was to look down and they would have found Abubakr (r.a) and Prophet Muhammed (pbuh), who were taking a temporary refuge from the enemies of Makkah while migrating to Madina.

Just try to imagine the whole scenario.

subhanallah! the Prophet (pbuh) comforted him by saying, “Do not grieve. He is surely with us,” and added: “What do you think of the two men beside whom Allah is the third?”

In Quran, 36:14 it is mentioned –
“When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, “Indeed, we are messengers to you”

Interestingly! The word for strengthened that is used is “‘azazna”, from the same root of Allah’s name al-‘Azeez.
When we do something for Allah, then Allah strengthen us in amazing ways.

When we read Quran, we realise that from time to time, the Prophets (peace be upon them all) were sent to warn, to give glad tidings and to preach the monotheistic faith, and almost all were severely mocked upon by the people, were threatened and even persecuted by the powerful people of their times, but Allah swt has strengthened them all, and He swt strengthen His messengers and slaves in beautiful ways.

Quran itself is a source of strength from Al Azeez which makes the striving slaves of Al Azeez to feel strengthened for His service.

So, whenever you feel like low on your levels of self esteem and izza and feel like you are humiliated from this world on speaking and standing for haqq then dont search for the honour and dignity at the hands of those who belittled you, instead turn your face to Al Azeez, ask Him to bless the tranquility and honour to you, He will surely bless you and strengthen you through ways you have never envisaged.
