Beautiful names of our Rabb
At-Tawwaab
Meaning – The Acceptor of Repentance, The Oft-Forgiving, The Acceptor of our Return.
Recently! I again had a word with one of my friends who has been expressing to me repeatedly over the period of some time the same concern, that she has made poor decisions in her life, and she thinks she has made her life difficult and messed up. It was not the first time that I counselled her that she should move forward but it seems all my counselling went on deaf ears.
SubhanAllah! I opened my cell phone and thought of writing the explanation of Allah’s beautiful name, At Tawwaab and I was mesmerized and was in awe of our Rabb’s glory that how Allah At Tawwaab has asked His slaves to remember Him through this beautiful attribute At Tawwaab which means The One Who forgives, The One Who accepts the return of His slaves!
No matter! How much you think your life is messed up, no matter how much you think you have made poor decisions in life, your Rabb, our Rabb is At Tawwaab, make sincere repentance and believe in Him, He is ala kulli shayin qadeer (He has power over all things) and can turn your state in less than a blink of an eye.
He is At Tawwaab, Who awaits our return. Even if you have gone far, or have been negligent or even if you have not progressed as you ought to, then too He is At Tawwaab, The acceptor of return!
I realised that the mistake I was doing in counselling my friend was that I was asking her to “move forward”, actually, the correct piece of advise I was supposed to give her should have been – “Return!” – return to Him, Who is At Tawwaab ur Raheem.
He is At Tawwaab, Who is ready to forgive us for all the zulm (injustice) we have done on His given amanah (trust) such as our bodies (self harm caused by overthinking and over assumptions about future events).
He is ready to forgive us for our shortcomings and He is ready to accept our return, return from the path where we are causing self destruction by being overwhelmed about things on which we have no control over.
Return from the path from where we have gone far, return from any path which has lead us away from Him!
He is ready to accept our return, our return to hand over things in His hand alone and submit ourselves in His itaa’at (obedience).
He is At Tawwaab, The One who is ready to accept our charities.
Do you know His Mercy is so prevailing that even forgiving faults of others is also considered as a form of charity in His sight!
SubhanAllahi Wabihamdihi.
“Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepting of repentance, The Merciful?”
(Holy Qur’an, 9:104)
May Allah At Tawwaab make us among those who return to Him with sincere devotion. Ameen.
