Al Mutakabbir

Beautiful names of our Rabb.

Al – Mutakabbir
The One whose Greatness and Pride are The Utmost!

Al-Mutakabbir Himself says: He is Allah, other than whom there is no God, The Sovereign, The Pure, The Perfect, The Bestower of Faith, The Overseer, The Exalted in Might, The Compeller, The Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
(Quran, 59:23)

Nodoubt!
Pride is an attribute that is not befitting for anyone except Allah swt – The Creator, The Sustainer, The Magnificent, The Greatest, The Most Loving, The Witness, The Most Just, and Al Baaqi – The Ever Lasting One.
Everything will perish except He, to Whom belongs all the praises and everything that exists and to whom alone befits the pride and glory!

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Allah, The Almighty said, ‘Pride is My cloak and greatness is My robe, and he who competes with Me in respect of either of them, I shall cast into the Hell Fire.’”

Allah u Akbar.
Allah is The Greatest.

Verily, it is only Allah swt, – Al Mutakabbir, to Whom befits the pride and glory!

As for the creation, takabbur (pride) is prohibited.

The Prophet (pbuh) said – “Whoever possesses an atom’s weight of kibr will not enter into the paradise.”

“O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them.”
(Quran, 49:11)

One should not ridicule, mock or belittle anyone as it also comes under the category of takabbur and we are warned that may be, the one who is belittled and look down or ridiculed, is better than us in His sight, Whose recognition and appreciation is the only thing which counts.

“And turn not your face away from men with pride, nor walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, Allah likes not any arrogant boaster.”
(Quran, surah Bani Israel 37, 38)

Let’s recall when Allah swt said: ‘What prevented you (O Iblees) that you did not prostrate yourself, when I commanded you?’ Iblees said: ‘I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay’”
(Quran, surah Al-A’raaf 11-12).

Arrogance makes one to reject the truth!

The truth in this case – Iblees, no matter of what he was made up of, was created by Allah swt and He swt Himself was commanding him to prostrate to Adam (a.s) who was also created by Allah swt.

But Iblis was arrogant of his being made up of fire and he looked down upon Adam a.s because he was made up of clay.

SubhanAllah!

May Allah swt save us from being arrogant, may we understand that to belittle others, mock them and deny people of their basic rights even on the basis of man made imaginary lines is also one form of takabbur.

The recent example of hundreds of Rohyngyas who were fleeing from their oppressive government, were stranded at Mediterranean sea and were openly unwelcomed by different borders, the imaginary lines, just because they were not their citizens and will only add to the population and pressures?

In a hadees, it is said.
“O people, verily your Lord is One and your father is one. Verily there is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab or of a non-Arab over an Arab, or of a red man over a black man, or of a black man over a red man, except in terms of taqwa.”

Allah swt says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. he is one of the Muttaqoon (the pious, the God conscious)”
[Al-Hujuraat 49:13]

May we understand that all people are descended from Adam (a.s), and Adam (a.s) was created from dust!

May Allah swt liberate us all from all sorts of kibr be it small or big.

May Al Mutakabbir takes pride in our little servitude to Him.

Ameen.
