On our way back to home from our son’s parent-teacher’s meeting, I was looking out from car’s window pane at the yamuna river which was almost completely occupied by the ‘mountain of froth’.
I was thinking it with a different lens, was thinking how much men has polluted it and all of a sudden my thought process was intervened by a voice, it was his voice, my husband’s voice.
He interrogated-“Looking at the froth?”
Me- “Yes”
He- “Any idea about its stability?”
Me-“Even a gentle breeze will take it away”
He-“Exactly! despite of its quantity, the froth is so unstable that even a gentle breeze can take it away”
(After a significant pause he asked me)
“Did you get the point,got that hadees?”
Hadith 62, “The People will soon summon one another to attack you from every place in the same way that a pack calls around its prey” Someone asked, “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?” He (pbuh) replied, “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the breasts (hearts) of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts.” Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah (pbuh), what is al-wahn?” He (pbuh) replied, “Love of the world and dislike of death.” (Ahmed)
“Today we have developed a disease in our heart, we are inflicted with wahn, the love of duniya and fear and hatred of death has made us to stop and stand against evil and tyrant. We fear that we will be persecuted, we will be tortured to death if we will speak haqq and this has reduced us to mere froth.
Though we know Islam has commanded us to be firm for justice be it against our own selves (surah nisa ayat 135,Holy Quran) and the best of Jihad as told by hadees is to speak the words of truth infront of a tyrant ruler.”
May Allah remove wahn and all sorts of pollution from our hearts and may we compromise not haqq with baatil in the cloak of wisdom.
