Sometimes we feel that we are not seeing apparent results and wonder, why do good? SubhanAllah, this thought can often linger in our minds because we don’t address it at its root, causing it to repeatedly overwhelm us.
I, too, felt overwhelmed at times. Alhamdulillah, I have thousands of views on this website, but I sometimes question, Is it making an impact, an influence, or achieving any result?
I initially tried suppressing this thought, but ideally, I should have confronted it to prevent it from becoming a recurring issue, a ruminating thought.
Alhamdulillah, Allah Al-Haadi (The Best to Guide) inspired me beautifully and gently guided me.
The other day, Alhamdulillah, we went to a beautiful park during sunset. The reflection of the sunset on the water was breathtaking, the geese were swimming peacefully, and their shadows created a serene scene. As I watched, I noticed something remarkable, although the geese moved calmly and gracefully, their movements still created ripples in the water.
Yes, THE RIPPLE EFFECT, caused by even the calm and composed movements of the geese.
Why, then, do we sometimes think that no ripple effect or influence is being created just because we don’t see it?
Perhaps there is hikmah (wisdom) in not witnessing it.
Perhaps seeing the results might make us arrogant or boastful, so Allah Al-Hakeem (The Most Wise) withholds it for our own good. Yet, we can rest assured that the ripple effect is still being created.
As believers, our focus should always be on sincere efforts rather than visible results. Allah Al-Azeem (The Magnificent) has promised us,
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًۭا يَرَهُۥ
“So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it”
(Surah Az-Zalzalah, 99:7)
InshaAllah, we will see the results of our efforts, whether in this world or, with certainty, in the Hereafter.
