Allah Al-Mateen (The Firm) has placed us upon the firm mountains, and seeing them daily, we are reminded of the remarkable ayah from Surah Al-Hashr (59:21):
“Had We sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and split asunder from the fear of Allah. And We present these examples to the people that they may reflect.”
The Holy Quran is described as being so powerful that if it had been revealed to a mountain, which is the most solid and stable structure in nature, it would have been overwhelmed by its message. This imagery of the mountain is to show the intensity of the Quran’s effect.
“And We present these examples to the people that they may reflect.” Allah Al-Azeem provides this powerful metaphor not just as a display of the Holy Quran’s power, but so that people reflect upon it and realize the seriousness of the message. The Quran calls on people to contemplate its message, to understand the weight it carries for their hearts and lives. This blessed ramadan, let’s humble ourselves down to the message of the Quran – which is guidance for all insaan – هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ
