A Flower or a Weed?
SubhanAllah! Was sitting on the bench today, and thinking about these Dandelions who were blooming bright in beautiful sunlight right infront of my eyes. Dandelions are one of those fascinating creations of Allah Al-Khaaliq that carry a powerful lesson.
They are bright, yellow, and vibrant, by all definitions, a flower. Interestingly! Nearly every part of it, roots, leaves, and flowers, has some medicinal benefits.
Yet, in most gardens and lawns, they are labeled a “weed.”
Why?
Simply because they grow where they are not “supposed” to.
Isn’t that interesting?
The same plant, celebrated in one place, rejected in another. And nothing about the dandelion changes. It doesn’t lose its color, its structure, or its purpose. Only the perspective changes.
And subhanAllah! that says so much about life.
People will see you through different lenses. Some may admire your strength, others may be annoyed by your presence. Some may call you inspiring, others may call you “too much.” But just like the dandelion, your value doesn’t change with someone else’s perception.
In Islam, we are reminded again and again that what truly matters is how Allah Al-Baseer sees us, not how the world labels us.
إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتْقَىٰكُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ
عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌۭ
“Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most conscious of Allah. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware.”
(Holy Qur’an 49:13)
So whether people see you as a flower or a weed, don’t let it shake your roots. Stay grounded in your purpose. Grow with resilience.
Bloom with sincerity.
And trust that Allah knows the full truth of who you are, even when the world doesn’t.
Flower or weed?
Worth lies in purpose, not perception of others about it.
