By now, I am sure that everyone must be aware of the viral news about Dr.Goobie but those who are unaware here is the news in brief for you.
The News – An MIT-educated and a neurosurgeon has candidly revealed on his YouTube channel the real reason he quit his job and left the medical field behind after 20 years.
Dr. Goobie went through years of rigorous training, completed medical school and finished a six-year neurosurgery residency before getting to the peak of his career – which saw him performing multiple successful surgeries each day. But, after spending 10 years practicing and working to relieve patients of their suffering, the neurosurgeon said he had gained 40 pounds from stress and a lack of sleep. In a 50-minute clip shared to his YouTube account, Dr. Goobie confessed that he had realized the medical system in the US was not built to ‘help heal’ but was instead created so that ‘hospitals could make money.’ Despite being well paid and having a well-respected role, he admitted: ‘Something was not right, I was very unhappy. I was the most unhappy I have ever been and I couldn’t really figure it out for a long time.’
He explained that while he was a surgeon, he undertook several surgeries using advanced technologies, but was never able to address the root cause of the illness.
‘I was trying to help people but these surgeries weren’t fixing the problem. It would help some people feel better, some people would feel the same, some people would be worse.’
Dr. Goobie said: ‘The problem is that our medical system is not set up this way… The way that things are set up is that the hospital needs to make money. They need to grow economically.
‘The problem there is that if you figure out a way to help patients heal in a way that doesn’t include a pill or a surgery then the hospital and the doctor are in big trouble.
Comment – Dr.Goobie further said that this is not about one hospital in particular but the whole country is set up in this way.
I appreciate his honesty, it is not easy to leave a high paid salaried job after giving your prime years into it, but he felt wrong because somewhere he knew that the hippocratic oath which the doctors take to serve the suffering ones is actually turned into a hypocritical oath by making money, venturing capital even if people are healing by changing their lifestyles.
Amidst of beautiful mountains, in the middle of a lot many mosquitoes, one man gathered the guts to say what was wrong, though he thinks that it is only about the country the health system is designed in such a way but actually the problem is bigger than he thinks, for him it is not only about a hospital but the whole country is like this, but if we delve deep then we will realise that the whole system capitalism revolves around capitalising and monitizing everything be it suffering in the healthcare system or funding a genocide, or set proxy unrest and wars to make profit/capital out of the war armaments.
The intriguing part is that I tried to scroll down to read comments on Dr.Goobie’s YouTube video and innumerable many were showing their support to him, and appreciating him for being courageous enough to stand for his morals, and ethics and exposing the health care system. He got 11 million plus views on that very video. SubhanAllah! I was wondering that a man is followed, appreciated by such huge masses, even though he does not have the solution of the root cause of the whole crises, but just quitting to be part of one of the exploited sector (health sector) by capitalists, he has become an overnight hero. People are in quench of the alternative, they know they have been badly exploited, but they don’t know the alternative solution, they don’t know the fact The Creator (Khaaliq) Who has created (takhleeq) them has also given them the way of living life, a complete deen – Islam which has its own socio, political, economic system system, which is no where present in today’s world not even in the muslim majority countries.
The world/humanity/even the climate is waiting for the system which does not monopolise wealth, does not hoard, does not capitalise and confine the resources in the hands of few who are least interested in public interests or are in consciousness that they will be questioned about it in the hereafter.
