Reflections from our rooftop-The unseen struggles behind the firmness and beauty

Alhamdulillah! This is the image of Mount Baker, located in the North Cascades of Washington State (U.S), which is visible from our rooftop. Yes, mashaAllah 😊

MashaAllah! It looks so still, so serene, we’re struck by its beauty, its firmness, its seeming permanence, which Allah Al-Azeem has blessed it with. Everytime we see it, we love it!
But SubhanAllah! What we rarely think about is what it took to become that way.

That mountain wasn’t always calm. It must have endured chaos, probably violent eruptions, shifting tectonic plates, glaciers carving deep scars into its slopes. It has weathered centuries of storms, lightning, erosion, avalanches. And yet, here it stands, glowing softly in the light, as if it was always this peaceful.

My point is simple – People are the same.

We often see someone’s grace, confidence, or strength or even life and think, “They’ve got it all together.” But what we’re seeing is just the surface, the polished, visible peak. What we don’t see is the storm they’ve weathered to get here, yes the sleepless nights to find the purpose behind the struggles, the losses, the self-doubt, the battles that left them bruised but still standing for Allah’s sake, by His will.

We admire their stillness without knowing their struggle. Their persistence is quiet but powerful.

It’s a reminder to move through life with more compassion. Not everyone shows their storms, but almost everyone has weathered some. Be kind, and next time you see such a beautiful mountain, think about the storms it endured, and yet it still stands tall, providing stability to the earth.

Yes, Mountains stabilize the Earth, and likewise some people’s quiet strength stabilizes those around them.

May Allah Al-Mateen (The Firm) make us firm on His deen, may we provide stability to everyone around us.
Ameen ya Ar-Rabb!
