When the Prophet ﷺ said, “How wonderful is the case of a believer. There is good for him in everything, and this applies only to the believer. If something good happens to him, he is grateful and that is good for him. If something harmful befalls him, he is patient and that is good for him.”
Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet ﷺ, he ﷺ taught reframing of the mindset.
He ﷺ was highlighting a mindset that refuses to let circumstances dictate inner stability.
A believer interprets difficulty through a lens of meaning, not misery.
Hardship isn’t just pain, it becomes purification, growth and a chance to develop patience. That shift alone protects a person from spiraling emotionally.
And When life goes well, the believer doesn’t get reckless or arrogant, they use gratitude to stay grounded.
Success becomes fuel for humility rather than ego.
If both good and bad end up benefiting you, your emotional world stops being a roller coaster. You’re steady. You respond intentionally instead of reacting impulsively.
You can’t control what happens to you, but you absolutely control the story you attach to it.
That’s psychological reframing in its purest form.
