A Floral Reminder of Unity Amid Disunity

Alhamdulillah! This beautiful image is of large white hydrangea blooms, which were blooming beautifully right infront our entrance of the building.

If you notice by zooming in a bit, you will notice that each hydrangea bloom is made up of countless tiny flowers coming together to form one large cluster, like a striking ball.

SubhanAllah! Such beauty in unity reminded me that in Islam, the Ummah (community) is made up of countless individuals, each one important on their own, commanded to be united!

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةًۭ وَٰحِدَةًۭ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ٩٢
“Indeed this, your ummah is one ummah, and I am your Rabb, so worship Me.”
Surah Al-Anbiya (21:92)

Sadly, while Allah declared us one ummah, and to worship Him alone, what we have today is 57 fragmented muslim nation-states, each guarding its nationalistic borders like a precious idol. So called muslim governments acting in national interest, not in ummah’s interest. Siyaasah aligned against the seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, against the very Quranic mandates.

And the bitter result?
One of the many among them is that such a fragmented ummah despite all the resources is unable to stop live genocides happening live in front of us.

SubhanAllah! The beauty of these hydrangeas floras whisper the unity we were meant to uphold, and the disunity that now burdens us.
